Dead Sea Minerals: A Natural Remedy for Scalp Psoriasis
Dead Sea Minerals: A Natural Remedy for Scalp Psoriasis
Article by Julius Kane
If, like me, you are looking for natural remedies for scalp psoriasis then this article is just for you. The purpose of this article is to explain how some of the Dead Sea products can bring you natural relief from your symptoms.
The Dead Sea is well known among psoriasis sufferers. Being the lowest point on earth (-457 meters below sea level), this salty lake contains 27 different types of minerals in very high quantities. Dead Sea mud, salt and water are used in order to heal many skin ailments such as psoriasis and eczema.
Besides the very high mineral content, the climate at the Dead Sea plays a major role in psoriasis treatment. The atmospheric pressure at the Dead Sea prevents negative UV rays from reaching your body. It is therefore possible to expose your skin to the sun without fear of being sunburned.
Unfortunately not all Dead Sea products are created equal. Many products are being marketed as containing Dead Sea minerals but in fact, only a few do actually include sufficient beneficial minerals that can positively impact your illness.
My first recommendation would be to avoid the products which are manufactured in Jordan. Politics aside, it is known that the Israeli side of the Dead Sea has a richer mineral content than the Jordan side. Furthermore, the production of these products is much more regulated by Israeli law.
I would also avoid any American, Asian or European product claiming to contain Dead Sea minerals. While some of these products do actually hold a very rich mineral content, most of these brands just use the name of the Dead Sea in order to gain marketing leverage.
It is evidently better to go for a 3 weeks retreat to the Dead Sea than to buy a cosmetic product. Unfortunately such a trip can be very expensive and most scalp psoriasis sufferers do not have the financial means to do so.
For that reason I would recommend to invest a little bit of time and money into quality Dead Sea mud. Try applying it on your scalp before taking your shower. Massage it onto your head as you would do with a regular shampoo. Leave it to rest for ten minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.
If you do that three times a week you will notice that the dry, itchy and red skin on your head will start to heal. This process takes place because the high mineral content of the mud nourishes the extremely dry skin on your scalp.
So if are looking for natural remedies for scalp psoriasis, the Dead Sea mud is a good place to start with. This simple, inexpensive and widely available product can help ease your symptoms and will make your psoriasis more manageable.
