3 Natural Remedies for a Headache

Painkillers are only part of the solution especially when you suffer from a bad headache. In fact, if you have other medical conditions such as ulcers, kidney or liver damage, asthma or even a bleeding disorder, it’s best for you to stay away from painkillers no matter what.

That said, here are 3 natural remedies for a headache that you can try as a result:

#1: A short massage

Rub the web of your skin between the base of your thumb and forefinger in a circular motion. Continue to massage this way for several minutes until the headache stops and then switch hands and repeat. This is a pressure point called LIG4 that is linked to the areas of the brain where headaches occur.

#2: A strong cup of coffee

Having a strong cup of coffee (containing caffeine) will ensure that the blood-vessel swelling reduces and in the process, get rid of the headache that you’re suffering from. This is precisely the reason why caffeine is added to powerful painkillers. However, if you’re a heavy coffee-drinker, then do as much as possible to avoid taking these painkillers.

#3: Try essential oils

Essential oils much like lavender will do wonders to relieve the pain of a headache. All you have to do is rub the oil on your forehead and temples and lie on your back to enjoy the scent while the headache disappears. Preferably, pick a room that is cool, dark and quiet. Another option includes the use of peppermint oil along with the lavender oil or even just by itself should soothe a headache too.
